Full description

The shore excursion will start from the port of Athens, where you will be met by your guide and driven to the city center. The first stop will be a sightseeing tour of Athens, where you will see some of the city’s most famous landmarks, including the Temple of Olympian Zeus, Hadrian’s Arch, the Parliament building, and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. You will also have the opportunity to see the Panathenaic Stadium, the site of the first modern Olympic Games in 1896.

Next, you will visit the Acropolis, a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the most famous archaeological sites in the world. The Acropolis is home to several ancient Greek buildings, including the Parthenon, the Temple of Athena Nike, and the Propylaea. You will have the chance to learn about the rich history of the Acropolis and admire the stunning views of the city from the top.

After exploring the Acropolis, you will head to the National Archaeological Museum, one of the most important museums in Greece. Here, you will see an impressive collection of ancient artifacts, including sculptures, pottery, and jewelry. You will also have the opportunity to see the famous Mask of Agamemnon, one of the most iconic artifacts from ancient Greece.

Following the museum tour, you will have some free time to explore the charming Plaka area, one of the oldest and most picturesque neighborhoods in Athens. Here, you can wander through narrow streets lined with neoclassical buildings, enjoy a traditional Greek lunch at a local taverna, or shop for souvenirs and handicrafts.

Throughout the excursion, you will be accompanied by a knowledgeable guide who will provide you with insights into the history and culture of Athens and Greece. You will also have plenty of time to take photos and soak up the sights and sounds of this ancient and fascinating city. After your free time in Plaka, you will be driven back to the port of Athens to rejoin your cruise ship.
